Ob King, ob Quing oder Queen – bei diesem Workshop kannst DU deine innere Bühnenfigur finden und rauslassen. Lip-Sync, Gesang, Comedy oder andere Kunstformen? In Drag ist alles möglich! Leichtfüßig. Tiefgründig. Sexy. Gesellschaftskritisch. Albern. Poetisch. Für all’ das wird es Raum zum Experimentieren geben. Du kannst ausprobieren, wie deine Ideen auf Publikum wirken und gemeinsam mit der Gruppe an deinen Ideen feilen. Wir gehen in einem safe-space zusammen auf die Reise nach deiner perfekten Ausdrucksform, wie immer nach dem Motto: alles kann, nichts muss.
Im Anschluss besteht die Möglichkeit eine Gruppen-Performance für die Drag-Open-Stage am 09.06.2023 zu erarbeiten und zu proben.
Damit wir die Workshop-Zeit sinnvoll nutzen können, solltest du folgendes mitbringen: eine Idee für eine kleine Performance (60-90 Sekunden). Das kann einfach dein Lieblingssong für einen Lip-Sync sein. Oder ein paar Zeilen für ein Comedy-Programm. Oder eine Tanznummer. Die 10 Teilnehmenden-Plätze werden bevorzugt an Menschen aus marginalisierten Gruppen vergeben, um vorhandene Barrieren möglichst zu berücksichtigen.
Die Leitung des Workshops übernimmt Athena Owls [sie/ihr], Drag Künstlerin aus Leipzig. Die selbsternannte Göttin des Reveals bezaubert das Publikum auf offenen Bühnen und bei “Mandys Bingo” in der Moritzbastei mit albernen oder tiefgründigen Performanzen. Für Athena ist Drag kein Wettkampf, sondern ein kreativer Weg der Befreiung und der Transformation, der allen Personen offen steht, die eine Botschaft in die Welt bringen wollen.

Whether King, Quing or Queen – in this workshop YOU can find your inner stage persona and let it out. Lip sync, singing, comedy or other art forms? In drag, anything is possible! Light-footed. Profound. Sexy. Socially critical. Silly. Poetic. There will be room for experimentation for all of these. You can try out how your ideas affect the audience and work on your ideas together with the group. We will go on a journey together in a safe space to find your perfect form of expression, as always according to the motto: anything is possible, nothing’s a must.
Afterwards there is the possibility to develop and rehearse a group performance for the drag open stage on 09.06.2023.
So that we can make good use of the time during the workshop, you should bring the following: an idea for a small performance (60-90 seconds). This can simply be your favorite song for a lip sync; or a few lines for a comedy program; or a dance number. Preference for the 10 available spots will be given to people from marginalized groups to accommodate existing barriers as much as possible.
The workshop will be led by Athena Owls [she/her], drag artist from Leipzig. The self-proclaimed goddess of reveals enchants audiences on open stages and at “Mandys Bingo” in the Moritzbastei with silly or profound performances. For Athena, drag is not a competition, but a creative path of liberation and transformation, open to anyone who wants to send a message to the world.
