Die queer-aktivistische Gruppe Queering Defaults will auch 2023 wieder eine alternative, intersektionale Pride in Leipzig organisieren. Über zwei Wochenenden im Juni verteilt wird ein breites Programm mit Workshops, Vorträgen, Diskussionsrunden, Community-Networking und Austauschrunden organisiert. Teil des diesjährigen Programms wird eine Drag Show am Freitag, 9. Juni 2023 sein.
Drag ist eine (queere) Kunstform mit langer Geschichte. Mittels Drag werden Geschlechternormen künstlerisch-performativ hinterfragt. Drag Queens, Drag Kings und Drag Quings arbeiten mit Musik, Gesang, Tanz, Stand-Up-Comedy und vielen weiteren Methoden. Auf diese Art und Weise wird Geschlecht als soziales Konstrukt mit seinen Symbolen, Habitus und Codes spielerisch bis plakativ dargestellt, verzerrt, lächerlich gemacht oder kommentiert reproduziert. Mit der Show wird ein Ort geschaffen, in dem die Teilnehmenden Geschlechterperformances ausprobieren können, ohne Diskriminierung zu befürchten. Im Einklag mit den Zielen des Vereins geht es also um die Förderung und Bildung der Teilnehmenden auf den Gebieten Feminismus, Gleichberechtigung aller Geschlechter und Queerness. Durch die künstlerische Bearbeitung und gleichzeitige Bildungsarbeit zum Themenfeld Drag wird das Empowerment der Teilnehmenden angestrebt. Die queere Community wird durch die Drag Show aktiv eingeladen, zusammen zu kommen und neue Verbindungen zu knüpfen. Durch den Austausch untereinander kann ein Wissenstransfer stattfinden und nachhaltig die Entwicklung der lokalen Drag Artists befördert werden.

the queer activist group Queering Defaults wants to organize an alternative, intersectional pride in leipzig again in 2023. spread over two weekends in june, a broad program with workshops, lectures, discussion rounds, community networking and exchange rounds will be organized. part of this year’s program will be a drag show on friday, June 9, 2023.
drag is a (queer) art form with a long history. through drag, gender norms are questioned in an artistic-performative way. drag queens, drag kings and drag quings work with music, song, dance, stand-up comedy and many other methods. in this way, gender as a social construct with its symbols, habitus and codes is playfully to strikingly presented, distorted, ridiculed or reproduced with commentary. the show creates a place where participants can try out gender performances without fearing discrimination. in accordance with the goals of the association, the aim is to promote and educate the participants in the fields of feminism, equality of all genders and queerness. through the artistic treatment and simultaneous educational work on the topic of drag, the empowerment of the participants is sought. the queer community is actively invited through the drag show to come together and make new connections. through the exchange among each other, a transfer of knowledge can take place and the development of local drag artists can be promoted in the long term.
